Thursday, 13 November – Bahrain hosted the 46th GCC summit. As part of the event, a new Gulf Pavilion was inaugurated at the Manama National Museum, showcasing the council’s four-decade history and achievements. The pavilion presents, across nine exhibition areas, more than 40 main topics and 120 sub-topics in the fields of joint Gulf action.

Tuesday, 18 November – SNIC Insurance (a Bahraini firm) obtained ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for its information security management system. This milestone, praised as strengthening cyber-security standards, reflects Manama’s emphasis on financial-sector resilience and investor confidence.

Wednesday, 12 November – Kuwait announced major reforms to boost openness and security. The Emir Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah approved an electronic tourist visa system that processes applications in as little as five minutes for all nationalities. In parallel, a new anti-drugs law was enacted, imposing much harsher penalties, including expanded scope for the death penalty, to combat narcotics smuggling. Kuwaiti authorities say the reforms, plus revamped traffic penalties, are designed to attract visitors while tightening domestic security.

Saturday–Sunday, 16–17 November – Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Kuwait City on a landmark trip. During talks with Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad, both sides discussed energy and trade cooperation. Kuwait now ranks as Vietnam’s largest Gulf trade partner, with bilateral commerce of 7.3 billion USD in 2024, and both governments expressed intent to deepen economic links. The visit coincides with Kuwait’s assumption of the GCC presidency, reflecting Kuwait’s drive to broaden its international engagement.

Tuesday, 17 November – Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi chaired the sixth annual meeting with all ambassadors accredited to Muscat. Discussions covered Oman’s national Vision 2040 reforms and green-transition policies. Albusaidi also reaffirmed Oman’s support for Palestinian rights, condemning Israeli violations in Gaza and calling for a comprehensive ceasefire and inclusive political process in line with international resolutions.

Tuesday, 17 November – Qatar hosted the signing of a ‘Doha Framework Agreement’ between the DRC government and the M23 rebel group. The deal drew praise from Gulf and international capitals. Bahrain’s foreign ministry lauded Qatar’s mediation in reaching the settlement, as did other GCC members. The EU welcomed the accord, explicitly thanking Qatar for its ‘commitment and diplomatic efforts’ toward stabilising the Great Lakes region.

Tuesday, 18 November – Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman conducted a highly anticipated working visit to Washington, DC for talks with US President Donald Trump. According to White House announcements, they discussed a broad bilateral agenda, including proposals for a formal US-Saudi security treaty and collaboration on regional issues. The visit comes as both sides seek to cement defence and economic ties, and it is widely seen as a signal of continued US-Gulf strategic cooperation.

Monday, 17 November – At Abu Dhabi’s annual World Future Energy Summit, UAE and Italian officials signed a strategic MoU to boost clean-energy collaboration. The agreement (between the summit organiser and the Italian Trade Agency) will facilitate joint projects in renewables, smart grids and hydrogen technology. Italy is already the UAE’s largest EU trading partner (non-oil trade at 14.1 billion USD in 2024), and the new pact is expected to spur Italian investment into Emirates’ diversification initiatives.

Thursday, 14 November – The EU delivered a formal statement at a Special Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, denouncing atrocities by the RSF and takeover of El Fasher in Sudan. It urged for an immediate end to violations, unhindered humanitarian access, and accountability via the UN Fact-Finding Mission and ICC.

Thursday, 14 November – EU Foreign Ministers have discussed a plan for the EU to lead training of 3,000 Palestinian police officers from Gaza. According to an EU diplomatic paper, the EU’s existing civilian missions could be expanded so that one ‘takes leadership in training the Palestinian police force in Gaza by providing direct training and support to circa 3,000 Palestinian police officers […] from Gaza, with a view to training the full 13,000 Palestinian police force.’ This initiative is presented as part of implementing a US 20-point Gaza plan, although EU officials cautioned that moving forward would require broad agreement among Member States.

Saturday–Sunday, 16–17 November (Kuwait City) – Vietnam–Kuwait Dialogue: Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conducted a state visit to Kuwait. In talks with Amir Sheikh Mishal and the Kuwaiti cabinet, they signed several cooperation agreements in energy and infrastructure. This was the first visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister since 2009, signalling growing Vietnam–Gulf engagement.

Monday, 17 November (Muscat) – Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi convened the yearly session with ambassadors posted in Muscat. The Minister reiterated Oman’s Vision 2040 priorities and its commitment to regional dialogue. He also emphasised Oman’s support for Palestinian self-determination, underscoring the need for an inclusive ceasefire in Gaza.
